Give your server an AI chatbot powered by Cortex AI — setup, personalities and limits.
Cortex can chat with members in a channel of your choice, powered by Cortex AI — a general-purpose assistant that can help with almost anything: homework, coding, tech support, ideas, writing, games — and it's also the expert on Cortex itself.
Setup
/ai-config
This opens the AI configuration panel where you can:
- Pick the AI channel
- Set the personality
- Manage blacklists
- Adjust response settings
Members type in the configured channel and Cortex replies conversationally.
Personalities
Open /ai-config and use the personality buttons to switch between modes:
- Friendly — warm and upbeat
- Sarcastic — dry wit
- Formal — butler-precise
- Pirate — full ye-olde pirate speak
- Default — balanced and helpful
Applies to all AI replies in your server.
Managing

How billing works (for server owners)
- Free servers with a BYOK key (bring-your-own API key) use your own provider quota.
- Servers without premium can subscribe to a monthly CortexDots plan for Cortex-powered AI — see CortexDots.
- Premium servers get generous daily AI limits included — see Premium.
What it knows
Cortex AI is a full general-purpose assistant — ask it anything, not just bot questions.
It also understands your server's context:
- Your own stats — ask things like "how many coins do I have?" or "what level am I?" and it answers for you.
- This server's features — which systems (AI chat, leveling, tickets, welcome messages) are set up here, and whether the server has premium.
- Recent conversation memory — it follows along with the ongoing chat in the channel and remembers recent conversations in your server, so follow-up questions work naturally.
It only ever uses your info and the current server's settings — never another member's stats or a different server's configuration. For anything about how Cortex works internally, check these docs.
