Getting Started
Add Cortex to your server and configure it in minutes. Cortex is an all-in-one Discord companion: AI chatbot, anti-nuke protection, automod, economy, leveling, tickets, modmail, giveaways, music, and a full web dashboard.
Step 1 — Invite the bot
Click here to invite Cortex to your guild. It comes with every permission it needs out of the box.
Step 2 — Verify with /help
Run /help in any text channel to open the interactive command catalog. It lists all categories and every command, with live slash-command links.
Step 3 — Optional: bind the AI
Run /ai-config and bind a channel to give your community an AI assistant. Full setup guide below.
AI Chatbot
Cortex ships with a highly configurable AI chatbot that supports 5 cloud providers, custom personalities, server-scoped memory, live URL reading, and a custom-emoji palette so answers feel native to your server.
Setup — /ai-config
Open /ai-config and pick Channel to bind a text channel. Cortex then replies to normal messages in that channel — no pings needed. Use Blacklist to restrict specific users.

Personalities. Apply a preset (Default, Friendly, Sarcastic, Formal, Pirate) or write your own custom system prompt — up to 500 characters — under Personality in /ai-config.
Live knowledge. Ask about the team, the dashboard, or the changelog and Cortex fetches the real, up-to-date content from the web instead of guessing. It also reads live Palestine news and sources when asked, and cites where it pulled information.
Auto-recovery. If a provider runs out of credits or hits a rate limit, Cortex automatically switches to an internal error-handling chain (Gemini → Groq) that explains what happened in plain language and tells the server admin exactly how to fix it — with the correct console link.
Tip
If you see frequent “rate limited” messages, your provider's free tier quota is exhausted. Upgrade to a Dev/paid tier or add a backup provider key in the dashboard's AI settings.

Moderation & Automod
Anti-Nuke. Cortex continuously watches for mass-deletion, mass-ban, mass-role, and channel-destruction patterns and rolls the server back automatically. Protect your server from raids and destructive bots.
Automod. Configure through /automod: block flagged words & profanity, spam and mention-flooding with custom thresholds, keywords, and all link types. Rules can be enabled or disabled per-server from the dashboard too.
Moderation toolkit. Full suite: /ban /kick /timeout /warn /purge /lockdown /slowmode /snipe /mass-unban, plus role management (/role /roleall /unroleall), nickname control (/nick), and channel nuke/lock (/channel).
Silent actions
Ban and kick support a silent option — the action happens quietly and only you see the confirmation. Perfect for removing problem members without public drama.

Management
Most setups also ship a disable subcommand, and every system can be managed or removed from the dashboard under your server settings.
Community & Economy
Leveling & ranks. Members earn XP from chat and voice; /rank shows a rich progress card with leaderboard placement.
Economy. A full coin economy: work, daily, beg, fish, rob, heist, coinflip, slots, blackjack, roulette, roll — plus a server shop to buy roles and items, and admin add/remove balance.
Community tools. Reputation points, leaderboards, polls, AFK status, invites, voting (with rewards via top.gg), activity ranks, and server-wide fun games.
Voting rewards. Vote on Top.gg every 12 hours to earn 500–1,000 coins (higher with longer streaks) plus +1 reputation. Streak milestones unlock titles at 10, 25, 50, and 100 total votes.
Browser games. Play arcade and casino games at dashboard.cortexhq.net/games. Arcade scores sync to your Discord profile; casino games share your economy wallet (2,500 starting coins when created from the dashboard, top-ups via voting, work, and daily).
Giveaways. Host, manage, and reroll custom giveaways with /giveaway — or control them live from the dashboard.
Music
High-fidelity playback. Stream from YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud into voice channels with /music play.
Full player control: skip, pause/resume, stop, queue browsing, volume, now-playing (with progress & artwork), and request channels via /setup-music-request. Powered by a dedicated Lavalink node for crisp, low-latency audio.

FAQ & Troubleshooting
Why isn't the AI responding to my messages?
Confirm you bound the channel with /ai-config, that a valid API key is entered for your provider, and that Cortex has View Channel / Send Messages / Embed Links permissions.
I keep getting “rate limited by the AI service”.
Your provider's free tier quota is exhausted (Groq and Gemini free tiers are the usual culprits). Upgrade to a Dev/paid tier, or add a backup provider key in the dashboard.
Why did my message show “This looks like spam” before?
That was an over-eager anti-spam filter that could false-positive on short messages. It has been replaced — Cortex now only enforces a short cooldown between AI messages.
Why does an error message say “[link removed]”?
Cortex strips non-allowlisted URLs to keep chats clean, but trusted developer consoles (console.groq.com, aistudio.google.com, platform.openai.com, console.anthropic.com, console.x.ai) always show fully.
How do I prevent the AI from being abused?
Use the blacklist in /ai-config, bind the AI to a staff-approved channel, and rely on the built-in cooldown between messages.
Music isn't playing / no sound?
Make sure you're in a voice channel, Cortex has permission to connect & speak, and the server's Lavalink node is online (see /music status-style commands or the dashboard).
