Inviting Cortex
Add Cortex to your server and understand which permissions it needs and why.

Invite the bot
- Go to https://dashboard.cortexhq.net and click Add to server (or use the invite link from the support server).
- Pick your server from the dropdown. You need Manage Server permission on that server.
- Review the permission list and click Authorize.
💡 Tip
Keep the requested permissions intact — removing permissions is the #1 reason "the bot doesn't work" tickets exist. Every permission maps to a real feature listed below.
What the permissions are for

| Manage Roles | Reaction roles, mute/timeout roles, autorole, verification |
| Manage Channels | Lockdown, slowmode, ticket channels, log channel creation |
| Kick / Ban Members | /kick, /ban, anti-nuke responses |
| Moderate Members | Timeouts, automod punishments, anti-spam |
| Manage Messages | Purge, ghost-ping deletion, automod message removal |
| Manage Nicknames | Nickname tag system |
| Manage Webhooks | Logging integrations |
| Send Messages / Embed Links / Attach Files | Everything visible: embeds, rank cards, logs |
| View Channels | Seeing the channels it needs to work in |
| Connect / Speak | Music playback in voice channels |
After inviting
- Run the setup commands to configure systems — see First Setup for the step-by-step guide.
- Verify Cortex's role position: it can only manage roles below its own. Drag
Cortexabove the roles it should assign. - Join the support server for update announcements and help.
⚠️ Warning
If you move Cortex's role below a role it needs to assign (e.g. a mute role or reaction role), those features will silently fail with permission errors.
