Quick answers to the questions the Cortex team hears most often.
Is Cortex free? Yes — moderation, automod, logging, music, economy, leveling, giveaways and more are all free. Premium adds bigger limits and extra perks.
The bot is offline / not responding. What do I do? Check the support server status channel first. If nothing is posted, open a ticket with your server ID.
Why can't Cortex assign a role?
Cortex can only manage roles below its own in the role list. Move Cortex higher (Server Settings → Roles) and make sure it has Manage Roles.
AI says I'm out of dots. What now? Your server's monthly CortexDots balance is empty. Wait for the monthly refill, get a top-up from the team, or ask about Premium.
AI replied weirdly or claimed to be another model? It shouldn't. Report it in the support server with a screenshot and message link — the identity guardrails forbid claiming to be other models.
How do I move settings to a new channel?
Re-run the setup command for that system (/logging setup, /ai setup, etc.) and pick the new channel. Nothing else resets.
Does Cortex store our messages? Only what logging captures (in your Discord channels) when server admins enable it, plus command/mod logs for dashboard history.
Can I use my own OpenAI/Gemini key for AI chat? Yes — BYOK (bring your own key) servers use their own provider and bypass Cortex metering entirely.
